Medical History
Your initial examination will begin with a detailed medical history. We promise to take the time to listen to your health concerns in detail. In addition to your present problem, we will review any health issues you have had in the past that could influence or relate to your present symptoms.
Orthopedic Examination
Orthopedic examinations evaluate the health status of the bones, muscles and joints. These tests typically include flexibility, muscle strength, and joint health. At Chiro-Technology, you will receive the same type of examination used by orthopedic surgeons.
Neurologic Examination
Neurologic examinations assess the health of the nervous system. As with our orthopedic exam, this examination includes the same tests used in a neurosurgeons office. Examples of these types of tests include reflexes and muscle strength.
Chiropractic Examination
In addition to standard examinations listed above, we also perform additional chiropractic tests. These specialized examinations test for alterations in posture, bone position and for the presents of compressed or pinched nerves. Included in this section of our examination is a very specialized procedure know as motion palpation. Motion Palpation is a very detailed hands on procedure that accurately evaluates the motion of every joint in the spine.
X-Ray Examination
If needed, x-rays will be performed during your initial exam. In addition to showing pathology such as fractures, our standing x-rays also accurately show joint position and posture.
Special Testing
In some cases, special testing may also be ordered. Examples of special testing include CT (cat) scans, MRI, or other specialized procedures performed at our local hospitals.
Treatment
Following your examination, our doctor will make the diagnosis and begin your treatment that day.
In most cases, you will also receive home care instructions outlining what you can do to speed recovery. The Doctor will schedule extra time with you on your second visit to answer any of your questions. At that time, they will go over your specific diagnosis, treatment plan and expected recovery time.
Please note that your initial examination will take approximately one hour.
